2 hospitalized after rollover wreck on Route K in Vernon County

VERNON COUNTY, MO — Two people were injured, one seriously, Thursday morning due to a rollover collision on Route K near south Nevada, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The accident happened on the southbound lanes about one mile south of the town of Nevada and was first reported at 6:20 a.m.

Officials say a 33-year-old local woman was driving a 2014 Hyundai Elantra southbound when the vehicle veered off the right side of the roadway, hit an embankment, and then rolled over.

The female driver, a local resident, was transported by medical helicopter to Freeman West, Joplin for serious injuries. Her passenger, a 24-year-old Eldridge resident, was transported by EMS personnel to Nevada Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.

Neither patient was wearing their seatbelts at the time.
