2 young children, 2 adults injured as SUV overturns on I-70 in Lafayette County

LAFAYETTE COUNTY, MO – Four people, including an infant and a young child, were sent to the hospital Sunday afternoon following a single-vehicle rollover crash on Interstate 70 near Higginsville, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The accident happened on the eastbound lanes of I-70 at mile marker 46, near Douthit Road. It was first reported at around 2:27 p.m.

Officials said a 25-year-old Kansas City man was driving a 2017 GMC Acadia eastbound when the SUV ran off the right side of the roadway, returned to the highway, and then rolled over.

The male driver and his three passengers–an infant under 1 year of age, a 4-year-old child, and a 27-year-old woman–all sustained minor injuries. All occupants were transported by Higginsville EMS crews to Centerpoint Medical Center.

The GMC, which was totaled in the wreck, had to be towed from the scene.
