Driver rushed to hospital after SUV hits barrier on I-29 near NW Kansas City

PLATTE COUNTY, MO – A single-vehicle collision Thursday morning on Interstate 29 near northwest Kansas City sent a 58-year-old man to the hospital, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.

The accident unfolded on the northbound lanes of I-29 north of Northwest 64th Street, near the city’s Park Plaza area. It was first reported at about 6:25 a.m.

Preliminary details show the victim, a local resident, was driving a 2002 GMC Yukon northbound when the SUV veered off the left side of the roadway and collided with a concrete divider.

Kansas City Fire crews transported the male driver to St. Luke’s Hospital – Barry Road for serious injuries.

No other occupants or drivers appear to have been involved.
