Driver sent to hospital after car crashes off I-270 ramp near Bridgeton

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO — A 28-year-old woman was hurt Monday evening as a result of a single-vehicle accident off Interstate 270 near Bridgeton, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The wreck occurred on the Exit 22 ramp connecting northbound I-270 to westbound State Highway 370. It was first reported at 6:25 p.m.

Officials said the victim, a St. Louis resident, was operating a 2008 Pontiac G6 at a rate of speed too fast for the wet road conditions. At one point, she failed to maintain control while negotiating a curve, causing the car to veer off the right side of the roadway and collide with an embankment.

MSHP troopers had the female driver transported to SSM Health DePaul Hospital for minor injuries.

The Pontiac, which was totaled in the wreck, had to be towed from the scene.
