IL: 4 injured in rollover collision off Selmaville Rd near Salem

MARION COUNTY, IL – Two people had to be airlifted to a hospital Friday morning following a rollover accident near southwest Salem that left two other people hurt, according to WJBD.

The wreck took place near Scout Road and was first reported at 9:05 a.m.

Illinois State Police indicated that a vehicle was traveling northbound, south of Joy Lane, when it ran off the right side of the roadway, hit a culvert, and then rolled over in a deep ditch.

The driver and three other occupants inside the vehicle were reported injured. One victim who had to be extricated from the wreckage and one other person who was said to have ejected were both transported to Salem Fire Protection District training center, from where they were then flown to hospitals in St. Louis.

Two other patients were rushed by ground ambulance to a local hospital.

Officials had part of the roadway shut down for over five hours during the investigation.
