IL: ATV driver dies following multi-vehicle crash involving hit-and-run driver in Bluford

JEFFERSON COUNTY, IL – A 34-year-old man from Bonnie lost his life as a result of a multi-vehicle collision in Bluford involving a driver who fled the scene, according to News 3 WSIL.

The accident unfolded at North Markham lane and East Short Street, at around 8:45 p.m.

Officials say a 2018 Chevy SUV was traveling northbound on North Markham Lane. The victim was operating a Kawasaki ATV and was turning west on East Short Street when the vehicles collided, causing the ATV driver to eject.

The ejected driver was lying in the roadway when he was hit by a third vehicle whose driver continued southbound out of the area.

Jefferson County Coroner Roger Hayse pronounced the ATV driver deceased at the scene.

At this time, investigators continue to search for the fleeing driver and the vehicle, believed to be a dark sedan.
