IL: Driver Injured, Ticketed in Rear-End Collision on West Main Street in Salem

SALEM, IL – A driver was taken to the hospital after his car was involved in a collision on the west side of Salem on Sunday morning, according to WJBD.

The incident happened at the intersection of West Main Street and Hotze Road at about 11 a.m.  Preliminary details indicated that a driver heading east on Main Street failed to slow down for an SUV in front of him that had stopped in traffic, and struck the vehicle from behind.

The driver of the first vehicle, a 41-year-old man from Ashley, was transported to Salem Township Hospital with undisclosed injuries.  He was issued a ticket for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

The SUV driver, a Salem resident, did not have to be taken to the hospital.  Neither driver was trapped in their vehicle.
