IL: Teen driver dies following collision on IL-29 in Peoria County

PEORIA COUNTY, IL — A 16-year-old Illinois Valley Central High School student has died following a two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning on State Route 29 near Chillicothe, according to 25 News.

The accident unfolded at the intersection with Hardscrabble Road, north of the city, at around 7:20 a.m.

While the circumstances of the event remain under investigation, Illinois State Police said the teen, a Sparland resident, was rushed to an area hospital along with the other driver.

Later that evening, Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood confirmed that the teen was pronounced deceased at the hospital at 8:40 a.m.

Authorities had Route 29 shut down in both directions during the emergency response.
