KC: 1 dead after crash with Tesla on N Platte Purchase Dr in north Kansas City

JACKSON COUNTY, MO – One person lost their life Friday morning after a Tesla collided head-on with their vehicle in north Kansas City, leaving another critically injured, according to The Landmark.

The wreck occurred at the intersection of Northeast 82nd Street and North Platte Purchase Drive, in the Northland area. It was first reported at 7:37 a.m.

Kansas City Police said a gray Tesla 3 was speeding southbound on North Platte Purchase Drive when it struggled to negotiate a curve in the roadway. Moments after crossing the double yellow lines, the Tesla struck an oncoming gray Buick Encore head-on.

The driver of the Buick was rushed to a local hospital where she later died from her injuries, confirmed the KCPD.

The driver of the Tesla, who suffered critical injuries, was also transported to an area hospital.

No further details have been released at this time, and no charges have been filed.
