KC: 1 dead following 4-vehicle crash near Leeds

KANSAS CITY, MO – According to FOX 4, a person died following a four-vehicle collision on I-70 near Manchester Trafficway on Saturday.

A person was driving a Chevrolet Equinox at high speeds east on I-70 around 7:30 p.m. when they collided with a Toyota Camry, a Ford F150, and a Ford Expedition.

The impact caused the Expedition to roll over the Camry and go down an embankment. The Expedition driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown from the vehicle onto the shoulder of I-70.

Rescue crews pronounced the Expedition driver dead at the scene and transported the Equinox driver to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The drivers of the Camry and F150 were not hurt in the crash.

Emergency crews closed the area for about three hours to clear the scene and investigate the wreck.

The Kansas City Police Department is investigating the incident. They believe impairment may have been a factor.
