KC: 1 injured in single-car wreck off Route D near Butler

BATES COUNTY, MO — A 67-year-old from Kansas State was hospitalized Monday morning following a collision on Route D near northeast Butler, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

It was first reported at 8:36 a.m., on the westbound lanes east of Northeast 5003 Road, in an area southeast of Kansas City. Butler Fire Department crews responded to the scene shortly after.

A preliminary investigation found that the victim, a resident of La Cygne, Kansas, was driving a 2006 Ford F150 pickup truck westbound when the vehicle veered off the right side of the roadway. While overcorrecting, the vehicle traveled off the roadway’s left side and collided with a ditch.

The male driver was transported by Bates County EMS personnel to Bates County Memorial Hospital with moderate injuries. Officials indicated that he was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the wreck.

The F150, which sustained minor injuries, was towed from the crash site.
