KC: 1 sent to hospital after rear-end crash on I-35 in NE Kansas City

CLAY COUNTY, MO – A collision Tuesday morning on Interstate 35 in northeast Kansas City sent a 44-year-old Excelsior Springs man to the hospital, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred on the southbound lanes at mile marker 7, before Exit 6 to Armour Road. It was first reported at about 6:54 a.m.

Preliminary details indicate a 26-year-old Platte City man was driving a 2019 Jeep southbound when he slowed down for congestion ahead. Moments later, the Jeep was struck from the back by a 2010 Ford Focus driven by the 44-year-old man.

While the MSHP crash report indicates no injuries, the driver of the Ford was transported to North Kansas City Hospital in North Kansas City as a precaution.
