KC: 1 sent to hospital after rear-end crash on I-35 near NE Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, MO — A 23-year-old man was injured early Thursday due to a two-vehicle wreck on Interstate 35, just northeast of Kansas City, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The collision took place at around 2:55 a.m., on the southbound lanes of I-35 north of Northeast Vivion Road.

Preliminary details indicate a 40-year-old, of North Kansas City, was driving a 2015 Lexus southbound when he rear-ended a 2011 Buick Lacrosse driven by a 23-year-old, of Grand Island, Nebraska. The impact of the crash sent the Buick into a guardrail, while the Lexus went on the strike a concrete wall.

The Buick driver, who suffered minor injuries, was transported to North Kansas City Hospital.

While both vehicles were totaled in the accident, the Lexus driver was not reported hurt.

No information regarding potential charges has been disclosed.
