KC: 2 injured in two-vehicle wreck on I-70 near Boonville

COOPER COUNTY, MO – Two people, including a teenager, were hospitalized following a collision Monday afternoon on Interstate 70 near Boonville, reports ABC17 News.

Missouri State Highway Patrol officials said the wreck took place at mile marker 105, shortly before 5:00 p.m.

Preliminary details show an 18-year-old Odessa resident was operating a 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix westbound on the interstate when, for reasons still unclear, the vehicle traveled past the median, struck the cables, and then entered opposing traffic.

Moments later, the Pontiac collided with a 2017 Freightliner MT55 driven by a 33-year-old Harrisburg resident.

First responders rushed the Pontiac driver to University Hospital for serious injuries. According to MU Health Care, he was released by Tuesday morning.

The driver of the Freightliner, who sustained minor injuries, was transported to the same hospital by private conveyance and was also released Tuesday.

Officials have not confirmed any pending charges at this time.
