KC: 2 sent to hospital after rear-end crash on I-29 near NW Kansas City

PLATTE COUNTY, MO — Two 24-year-olds were injured Wednesday afternoon in a rollover collision on Interstate 29 near northwest Kansas City, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The accident took place on the southbound lanes of I-29 just south of mile marker 4.8, past North Northwood Road. It was first reported at 2:18 p.m.

Officials say a woman of Platte City, was driving a 2015 Chrysler 200 when she failed to slow down for slowing traffic due to congestion ahead. Moments later, the Chrysler hit the back of a 2019 Jeep Cherokee driven by a 24-year-old woman, of Kansas City. The impact forced the Jeep to overturned onto its side in the left lane, facing east. The Chrysler was sent off the right side of the roadway, where it came to a rest facing south.

The driver and her passenger of Kansas City, were both transported to North Kansas City Hospital in North Kansas City for injuries considered minor.

No other injuries and no pending charges have been reported.
