KC: Accident Involving Cattle Trailer Shuts Down I-70 in Both Directions

KANSAS CITY, MO – A crash involving a cattle trailer shut down a stretch of Interstate 70 near Oak Grove on Wednesday morning, according to the Kansas City Star.

The collision between two semi-trailers happened on westbound I-70 near mile marker 28 at about 10:10 a.m.   Neither driver was injured but 13 cattle escaped after the wreck and some were injured.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said local resources were used to capture the loose cattle, a process that took several hours.

I-70 was closed in both directions until authorities could resolve the situation, with all lanes reopening by about 2 p.m.
