KANSAS CITY, MO – A two-vehicle collision in Kansas City on Sunday evening left three people injured, two of them critically, Fox 4 KC reported.

The cars crashed in the area of Truman Road and Askew Avenue at about 5:45 p.m.  According to the initial investigation by Kansas City police, the driver of a Toyota Highlander was heading east on Truman Road and tried to make a left turn onto northbound Askew Avenue.  At that point, the Toyota was struck by a westbound Dodge Dart.

The driver and passenger in the Highlander were critically injured and taken to an area hospital.  The Dodge driver sustained minor injuries.

Police are continuing to investigate the accident, and are trying to determine whether speed or impairment were contributing factors.
