KC: Driver critically hurt in rollover crash potentially caused by other vehicle on I-435 in east Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, MO – Authorities are investigating whether a second vehicle was involved in an injury rollover wreck Tuesday evening on Interstate 435 in Kansas City, reports KCTV5.

The incident took place on the northbound lanes approaching Exit 60 to Truman Road, prompting a response from local police shortly before 7:30 p.m.

An early investigation shows a white Mercury Mountaineer was heading northbound on the highway when, according to a witness, a gray pickup truck drove across all travel lanes and onto the exit ramp.

While officials have not confirmed whether the pickup truck collided with the Mercury, the driver of the Mercury lost control of the car, causing it to veer off the ramp and then roll over several times.

The driver of the Mercury, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time, was partially ejected from the vehicle. First responders rushed her to a local hospital in critical condition.

No other information about the fleeing pickup truck or its driver has been released, but an investigation remains ongoing.
