KC: Driver left injured after rollover wreck on I-35 near NE Kansas City

CLAY COUNTY, MO — A two-vehicle crash Wednesday evening on Interstate 35 near northeast Kansas City left one driver with moderate injuries, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Authorities said the accident happened on the southbound lanes at mile marker 10, north of Northeast Chouteau Trafficway, at about 6:00 p.m.

An early investigation shows  a 50-year-old was driving a 2015 Ford Escape southbound when the vehicle hit the rear of a southbound 2016 Freightliner Glider while he was trying to pass the truck.

The force of the crash sent the Ford off the roadway and into a median, where the vehicle hit a cable barrier. The Ford the re-entered the interstate and overturned, coming to rest on its roof.

The MSHP crash report indicates the Ford driver suffered moderate injuries, but also that he was taken to the North Kansas City Police Department by Kansas City Fire crews. No further information has been made available.
