KC: Driver runs red light, collides with another vehicle in Lee’s Summit

LEE’S SUMMIT, MO – According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, one person was hurt in a two-vehicle collision at MO-291 and Columbus St on Thursday.

A 71-year-old man driving a 2010 Dodge Caravan was driving west on NE Columbus St when he ran a red light and collided with a 30-year-old man heading south in a 2018 Dodge Ram pickup truck around 12:55 p.m.

A 42-year-old woman from the Caravan was hurt in the collision. Rescue crews transported her to an area hospital with minor injuries.

The Ram sustained minor damage in the crash, while the Caravan sustained moderate damage.

The Lee’s Summit Police Department assisted the Missouri State Police in working the scene.
