KC: Driver seeks treatment after crash with school bus on MO-92 near Smithville

CLAY COUNTY, MO — A 52-year-old sought treatment following a crash involving a school bus late Thursday morning near Smithville, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The accident happened on the eastbound side of State Highway 92 before Hornback Road, in an area north of Kansas City. It was first reported at 11:00 a.m.

According to the MSHP crash report, a woman was driving a 2020 Mercedes Benz eastbound when she began slowing down to turn “for mail delivery.” Moments later, the Mercedes was rear-ended by a 2018 Thomas School bus driven by a 74-year-old woman.

Officials indicated that the driver of the Mercedes sought out treatment for a minor injury after the incident.

The Mercedes and school bus sustained moderate and minor damage, respectively.
