KC: Driver sent to hospital after collision on US-50 in Pettis County

PETTIS COUNTY, MO — A two-vehicle crash late Thursday afternoon near east Sedalia sent a 59-year-old woman to the hospital, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.

The accident happened on a stretch of eastbound U.S. Highway 50 at State Highway TT, in an area southeast of Kansas City. It was first reported just before 5:00 p.m.

A preliminary investigation found that the victim, of Smithton, was behind the wheel of a 2014 Ford Fiesta that was stationary in the middle of the roadway, waiting to turn left. As she turned, a pickup truck behind the Ford Fiesta passed through the shoulder. A 1999 Toyota Corolla that was traveling behind the pickup did not have enough time to stop before it collided with the Ford Fiesta.

The Ford Fiesta driver was transported to Bothwell Regional Health Center with injuries considered minor.

The driver of the Toyota, 18, also of Smithton, was not reported hurt.
