KC: Elderly driver seriously hurt in rollover crash near Warrensburg

JOHNSON COUNTY, MO — A single-vehicle rollover collision Monday evening near Warrensburg left a 91-year-old driver seriously injured, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The accident was reported on a stretch of U.S. Highway 50 east of Northwest 121st Road, in an area southeast of Kansas City. It was first reported at 5:57 p.m.

An early investigation found that a local resident, was operating a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe westbound on the highway. At one point, for reasons still unclear, the vehicle veered off the right side of the roadway and collided with a guardrail. The Hyundai went airborne before landing back on the ground and overturning.

First responders arrived on the scene to find the vehicle at rest in a tree line and facing west. The driver was rushed to Western Missouri Medical Center for serious injuries. At this time, no updates about his condition have been made available.

The MSHP report notes that the driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
