KC: Elderly woman left seriously hurt after rear-end crash on MO-291 in Cass County

CASS COUNTY, MO – An 86-year-old woman was rushed to a hospital Friday morning following a two-vehicle wreck on State Highway 291 near Peculiar, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The collision took place at the intersection with East 215th Street and was first reported at about 8:27 a.m.

Officials said the elderly woman, a Garden City resident, was driving a 2018 Ford Edge northbound on the highway when the vehicle crashed into the back of a northbound 2015 Ford Edge that had come to a stop to make a left turn.

Central Cass Fire crews transported the Garden City woman to Research Medical Center for serious injuries

The driver of the 2015 Ford Edge, a 53-year-old woman from Harrisonville, was not reported hurt.

Both vehicles were totaled in the accident and required towage from the crash site.
