KC: Man injured in hit-and-run crash on County Rd VV near Centerview

JOHNSON COUNTY, MO – A 61-year-old man was hurt as a result of a hit-and-run collision Sunday afaternoon on Southwest County Road VV near Centerview, reports the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The incident was reported on the westbound lanes east of Northwest 701st Road and was first reported at 12:00 p.m.

Officials say a male suspect was driving an unknown Chevrolet eastbound on County Road VV at the same time the victim, a Holden resident, was driving a 2024 Ford Maverick westbound on the road. At one point, the Chevrolet veered past the center line, prompting the victim to swerve off the roadway to avoid a collision. The Chevrolet sideswiped the Ford Maverick and then fled the scene. The Ford then re-entered the roadway and arrived at a controlled stop on SW 701st Road.

According to the crash report, the victim sustained minor injuries but declined treatment at the scene.

Both vehicles are believed to have received minor damage in the crash.
