KC: Motorcyclist dies following crash with car on MO-52 in Bates County

BATES COUNTY, MO – A man from Butler died Saturday night, May 11, after his motorcycle collided with a vehicle on State Highway 52 near Butler, according to KSHB.

Missouri Highway Patrol officials say the accident unfolded near the ramp from Interstate 49.

Preliminary details indicate the victim, a 36-year-old man, was operating a 2006 Harley Davidson westbound on MO-52 at the same time a 23-year-old woman from Columbia, Missouri, was driving a 2016 Kia Rio southbound on the Interstate 49 offramp. Moments after she stopped and then turned east onto MO-52, the victim’s motorcycle started skidding, ultimately colliding with the Kia Rio.

First responders pronounced the rider deceased at the scene.

Officials have not indicated whether the driver of the Kia may be investigated for her role in the fatal wreck. The MSHP crash report indicates she declined treatment.
