KC: Motorcyclist dies following crash with flatbed trailer on US-24 in Independence

JACKSON COUNTY, MO – A man has died following a collision late Wednesday afternoon involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck towing a trailer in Independence, according to KCTV5.

The accident unfolded on U.S. Highway 24 and North Grand Avenue, at around 4:45 p.m.

Independence Police said the victim, who was operating the motorcycle, was attempting to leave a parking lot and enter traffic. At one point, the motorcyclist collided with a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado’s towed flatbed trailer.

The rider, who was thrown from his bike in the impact, suffered life-threatening injuries. He was rushed to an area hospital but was later pronounced deceased. Officials noted he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

No injuries to the driver of the Silverado or anyone else were reported.

Authorities continue to investigate.
