KC: Pedestrian dies after hit-and-run on Independence Ave in NE Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, MO – A man died last Friday night, May 3, following a hit-and-run pedestrian collision in northeast Kansas City, according to KCTV5.

Officers with the Kansas City, Mo., Police Department and emergency crews responded to the scene near Independence Avenue and Indiana Avenue some time after 9:20 p.m.

Preliminary details show the male pedestrian was in lane 1 of westbound Independence Avenue when he was struck by a silver Chevrolet Silverado traveling westbound.

While the Chevrolet continued away from the scene without stopping, a witness said they pursued the pickup, and the driver ultimately returned to the crash site.

At this time, officials are investigating evidence that indicates a second vehicle may have also struck the pedestrian before fleeing.
