KANSAS CITY, MO – The Kansas City Police Department was dispatched to a deadly pedestrian collision on the city’s East Side early Wednesday morning, according to the Kansas City Star.
The incident took place on Interstate 435 northbound near the Truman Sports Complex. Police said a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle near Sni-A-Bar Road at about 5:15 a.m.
The crash caused extensive traffic backups in both directions on I-435 while officers were investigating.
Drivers had to exit at Eastwood Trafficway, with backups stretching past Blue Parkway/Missouri 350 and Interstate 70.
