KANSAS CITY, MO – According to KCTV, authorities have charged a man for a hit-and-run crash that occurred near Winner Road and White Avenue on April 2.
A 32-year-old man was allegedly driving a dark-colored sedan when he hit the victim around 5:45 a.m.
First responders found the victim unresponsive in the roadway. They transported them to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The driver’s lawyer contacted police and told them they would cooperate but would not give a statement. The driver gave authorities access to their vehicle, but the hood of the car had been cut up and put in a box in front of it.
Authorities charged the driver with leaving the scene of an accident.
Police issued a warrant for the driver’s arrest on April 23. It was recalled and withdrawn on April 25 because the driver had posted his $5,000 bond.
If convicted, the driver could have to pay a $10,000 fine and face up to four years in prison.
