KC: Police chase ends with deadly crash near Key Coalition

KANSAS CITY, MO – According to FOX 4, a police pursuit ended with a fatal collision near E 31st St and Wabash Ave on Saturday.

Officers with the Independence Police Department were chasing a 64-year-old man driving a white Chevrolet Z71 pickup truck when the pursuit came into the city limits of Kansas City.

The pickup truck driver was heading west on E 31st St when he hit an eastbound black Audi Q5 near E 31st St and Wabash Ave. The driver then collided with a westbound red Kia Sportage.

Following the collision with the Sportage, the pickup truck driver ran off the road and crashed through a fence before slamming into a tree.

First responders transported the pickup truck driver to an area hospital, where he died. Crews transported the driver and rear-seat passenger of the Kia to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The Audi driver was not hurt in the crash.

No officers from Kansas City were involved in the chase.

The incident is under investigation.
