KC: Police Searching For Driver Who Struck Kansas City Doctor Riding Bicycle

KANSAS CITY, MO – A search is continuing for the driver involved in a hit-and-run collision in Kansas City that injured a bicyclist last month.

According to KCTV, police have released a picture of the vehicle they are looking for in the case.   The incident occurred Sept. 17 at East 39th Street and Gilham Road.  The bicyclist was identified as Children’s Mercy Hospital pediatric cardiologist Saswat Das.

Investigators said he was riding his bicycle west on 39th Street near Harrison Parkway when he was struck by a car heading south on Harrison.  The doctor was seriously injured in the crash.   The driver involved left the scene without stopping to help, and headed east on 39th Street at a high rate of speed.

The photo released by police shows a red Ford Fusion made between 2013 and 2020, which may have damage to the driver’s side mirror.  Anyone with information on the vehicle or the driver is asked to contact the KCPD Traffic Investigation Section.
