KC: Teen passenger injured in crash off MO-18 near Garden City

BATES COUNTY, MO – An 18-year-old Butler resident suffered injuries late Tuesday morning as a result of a single-vehicle crash off State Highway 18 near Garden City, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The accident impacted the westbound lanes at Northeast State Route Z and was first reported at 10:55 a.m.

MSHP officials said a 21-year-old Archie man was driving a 2008 Buick Lacerne westbound when he failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. Moments later, the vehicle veered off the highway and collided with a sign and then a fence.

The crash report indicates that his passenger, an 18-year-old woman, was expected to seek their own treatment for minor injuries.

While the driver was uninjured, the Buick sustained minor damage and had to be towed from the crash site.

No charges or citations were immediately reported.
