MO: 1 killed, 1 injured in collision on US-60 near Sikeston

NEW MADRID COUNTY, MO — A 39-year-old man from Puxico lost his life Wednesday morning due to a two-vehicle collision on U.S. Highway 60 near Sikeston, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The fatal collision occurred on a span of US-60 about a mile west of the city and was first reported at 9:11 a.m.

The MSHP crash report indicates the victim was driving a 2014 Ford Fiesta northbound when he traveled into the path of a 2018 GMC Sierra, which was heading westbound, resulting in a crash.

The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by the New Madrid County Coroner. Officials noted that he was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

The driver of the GMC, of Scott City, was transported by ambulance to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau for moderate injuries.
