MO: 2 seriously injured in rollover crash off State Hwy Y near Doniphan

RIPLEY COUNTY, MO – Two people, including a child, were hospitalized with serious injuries early Monday evening following a single-car rollover crash off State Highway Y near Doniphan, reports the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The accident took place as a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling northbound on the highway, about two miles north of the city, at about 5:30 p.m.

For reasons still being investigated, the vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway, hit a ditch, and then rolled over.

The driver, a 20-year-old Doniphan man, was flown by Air Evac to Regional One Health in Memphis, Tennessee, for serious injuries. His passenger, a 14-year-old boy from Doniphan who was also seriously hurt, was transported by EMS to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Officials indicated that the wreck caused damage to a Missouri Department of Transportation (MODOT) “bus stop ahead” sign. The Chevrolet, which was totaled, had to be towed from the scene.

No pending charges have been reported at this time.
