MO: Child hospitalized after vehicle vs deer crash on MO-72 in Madison County

JASPER COUNTY, MO – A 5-year-old child was sent to the hospital Tuesday morning following a single-vehicle accident involving a deer on Highway 72 near Fredericktown, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The accident happened on the eastbound lanes about five miles west of Fredericktown and was first reported at about 4:52 a.m.

Officials said a 32-year-old woman from Annapolis was operating a 2017 Ford Explorer eastbound when the vehicle hit the deer in the roadway.

While the driver was not reported hurt, her passenger, a 5-year-old boy, was transported by ambulance to Iron County Medical for minor injuries.

The Ford, which sustained moderate damage, had to be towed from the scene.
