MO: Woman killed, child injured in crash with big rig on Hwy AM near Mountain Grove

WRIGHT COUNTY, MO — A 29-year-old woman lost her life Wednesday morning when her vehicle collided with the back of a tractor-trailer on Highway AM near east Mountain Grove, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The accident unfolded on the eastbound lanes of the highway, about a quarter mile east of the city. it was first reported at about 7:50 a.m.

Officials say a 2014 Peterbilt truck was stopped in the roadway as its operator worked on or near the vehicle. The victim, a local resident, was driving a 2020 Nissan Pathfinder eastbound when the Nissan hit the back of the Peterbilt.

The driver of the Nissan was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Wright County Coroner at 7:54 a.m.

Her passenger, a 4-year-old child, was transported to Mercy Hospital in Springfield via ambulance for minor injuries.

No further information has been released at this time.
