STL: 1 injured in collision on I-44 WB near High Ridge

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO — A crash Monday evening on Interstate 44 near the census-designated area of High Ridge left a 53-year-old woman injured, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The wreck unfolded on the westbound lanes of I-44 at mile marker 271, at about 7:18 p.m.

Preliminary details indicate the woman, a Eureka resident, was driving a 2019 Nissan Rogue westbound in Lane 3 when she slowed down. A 35-year-old St. Clair man who was operating a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado westbound in the same lane failed to maintain a “proper lookout,” causing the Chevrolet to rear-end the Nissan.

The driver of the Nissan, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time, suffered moderate injuries. She was transported to Mercy Hospital St. Louis by Renton Fire Protection crews.

No information regarding potential charges has been shared.
