STL: 1 injured in crash with towed unit on I-70 near Maryland Heights

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO – A 23-year-old woman was sent to a hospital Tuesday afternoon following a two-vehicle collision on Interstate 70 near Maryland Heights, reports the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The accident happened on the eastbound lanes of I-70, east of State Highway 141, in an area northwest of St. Louis. It was first reported at about 3:00 p.m.

Preliminary details show the young woman, a Florissant resident, was driving a 2012 Hyundai Sonata eastbound when she made an improper lane change to the right. Moments later, the Hyundai’s front-passenger side hit the driver’s side of a 2005 Kensworth T300’s towed unit.

Pattonville Fire Protection District crews transported the 23-year-old woman to SSM Health DePaul Hospital for minor injuries.

No one in the Kensworth was reported injured, and the vehicle sustained only minor damage, allowing it to be driven from the scene. The Hyundai sustained moderate damage and required roadside assistance at the scene.
