STL: 1 injured in multi-vehicle crash on MO-79 near Old Monroe

LINCOLN COUNTY, MO – A multi-vehicle accident Friday morning near Old Monroe sent a 45-year-old Winfield man to the hospital, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The crash involved four vehicles and unfolded on a stretch of State Highway 79 at Route C. First responders were dispatched to the area at about 6:00 a.m.

Officials say the Winfield man was driving a 2020 Chevrolet Tahoe southbound when the vehicle rear-ended a 2023 Lincoln Corsair driven by a 52-year-old man, also of Winfield. The impact caused the Lincoln to run off the right side of the roadway, and the Chevrolet rotated sideways before its side hit the back of a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze. Moments later, a 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer struck the right side of the Tahoe.

Lincoln County Ambulance crews transported the driver of the Tahoe to SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital – Lake St. Louis for injuries considered “moderate.”

All four vehicles sustained either extensive or moderate damages and had to be towed from the scene.

No charges have been reported at this time.
