STL: 1 sent to hospital following collision on Hwy V in Franklin County

FRANKLIN COUNTY, MO — One person was injured early Sunday evening due to a two-vehicle wreck on Highway V near Union Township, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The accident happened on a stretch of Highway V at Clearview Road, at around 5:30 p.m.

A preliminary investigation conducted by the MSHP indicates a 25-year-old was driving 2004 Toyota Highlander westbound on Highway V at the same time a woman, 80, was attempting to turn onto the eastbound highway from Clearview Road in her 2014 Ford Escape. Authorities said the Ford driver failed to yield, causing the front-end of the Ford to hit the front of the Toyota. The impact sent the Toyota off the roadway before it rolled onto its side.

Despite total damages to the Toyota and extensive damages to the Ford, only the Toyota driver was transported to Mercy Hospital for injuries believed to be minor.

Officials did not immediately shared any information regarding pending charges against the Ford driver.
