STL: 2 hospitalized after pair of crashes on I-270 NB in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS, MO — Two drivers were injured Tuesday night due to a pair of crashes, including a rollover, on Interstate 270 in northwest St. Louis, reports the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The events unfolded on a stretch of northbound I-270 before Missouri State Highway 364 (County Road D), at about 9:53 p.m.

According to a preliminary investigation, a local resident, was driving a 2012 Ford Taurus when he was involved in a rollover crash. Some time after the Ford came to rest on its roof, blocking Lane 1, its front end was hit by the front-left of a 2016 Hyundai Accent driven by an 18-year-old also of St. Louis. As a result of the impact, the Hyundai came to a stop in Lane 1, and the Ford Taurus came to rest blocking Lane 3.

Area fire crews rushed both drivers to Mercy Hospital St. Louis. Officials said one driver sustained moderate injuries and the other’s condition is serious. Neither driver was found to have been wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

An investigation remains ongoing.
