STL: 2 killed in head-on collision on US-61 near north Wentzville

ST. CHARLES COUNTY, MO – Two people lost their lives Wednesday night following a wrong-way crash on U.S. Highway 61 near north Wentzville, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The double-fatal accident occurred on the southbound lanes south of Highway P, at around 8:43 p.m.

Officials say an 84-year-old Florissant man was driving a 2015 BMW X5 northbound in lane 1 of southbound US-61 when the car collided head-on with an oncoming 2019 Chevrolet Malibu.

Both the Florissant man and the driver of the Chevrolet, a 19-year-old Moscow Mills resident, were rushed by ambulance to Mercy Hospital St. Louis where they succumbed to their injuries.

No other injuries were immediately reported, and no further information has been shared.
