STL: 2 left seriously hurt after Franklin County cargo van vs pickup truck crash

FRANKLIN COUNTY, MO – Two people were rushed to a hospital Friday morning following a two-vehicle wreck on State Highway 47 near Union, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The collision took place at the intersection with Highway V at around 10:57 a.m.

Preliminary details show a 44-year-old woman, of Union, was driving a 2020 Ford Transit van westbound on Route V toward the intersection. A 47-year-old man, also of Union, was driving a 2024 Ford F-750 northbound but was inattentive to the electric signal. As he failed to notice the steady red signal, the Ford F-750 entered the intersection, causing its front-end to hit the left side of the Ford Transit which had begun crossing MO-47 on a green light.

The impact of the crash caused the Ford Transit to spin counterclockwise before rolling onto its side.

Two occupants from the Ford Transit, two women aged 40 and 49, from Washington, MO, and Gerald, MO, respectively, were transported to Mercy Hospital St. Louis by Union Ambulance District personnel. Officials indicated that both victims suffered serious injuries in the rollover crash. Neither was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident.
