STL: 3 hospitalized following collision on I-55 NB offramp near Collinsville

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO – Three people were injured Monday morning after a two-vehicle wreck on Interstate 55 near west Collinsville, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The accident happened on ramp connecting northbound I-55 to eastbound I-255. It was first reported at around 8:30 a.m.

Preliminary details show a 37-year-old St. Louis woman was driving a Nissan Xterra eastbound when she changed lanes, causing the car to strike an eastbound 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by a 63-year-old woman from Hillsboro.

The driver of the Jeep and their passenger, a 37-year-old man from St. Louis, were both sent to Mercy Hospital South, along with one passenger in the Nissan, a 45-year-old woman, also from St. Louis.

An investigation remains ongoing, but the crash report indicates that all injured occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
