STL: Bicycle Rider Struck and Killed by Tractor-Trailer in Wellston

WELLSTON, MO – An accident in St. Louis County on Wednesday afternoon claimed the life of a bicycle rider, First Alert 4 reported.

The bicyclist was riding in the 1600 block of Lucas and Hunt Road in Wellston, near Normandy High School, when the crash took place at about 4 p.m.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol determined that the rider, a 50-year-old man, entered the northbound lanes of the roadway and then fell off his bicycle.  At that time, a northbound 2020 Volvo tractor-trailer was passing by and the rear right tire of the unit being towed by the truck struck the cyclist.
