STL: Driver injured as car crashes off I-70 in O’Fallon during medical episode

ST. CHARLES COUNTY, MO – A 62-year-old woman suffered a medical emergency Tuesday afternoon that led to an injury collision on Interstate 70 in O’Fallon, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The accident happened on the eastbound lanes west of Highway K and was first reported by the MSHP at 12:20 p.m.

Officials said the woman, a St. Charles resident, was driving a 2023 Nissan Rogue eastbound when she experienced a medical emergency that caused her to lose control of the vehicle. The Nissan then veered off the right side of the roadway and collided with a concrete barrier. Moments later, the car re-entered the roadway, traveled off the left side of the roadway, and slammed into the median barrier.

St. Charles County Ambulance District crews had the female driver transported to St. Joseph Hospital West for injuries believed to be minor.

No other occupants or vehicles appear to have been involved.
