ST. LOUIS, MO — A 41-year-old woman was hospitalized Monday morning after being involved in a two-vehicle wreck on Interstate 55 in southwest St. Louis, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The accident happened on the southbound highway at mile marker 198.2, north of South Lindbergh Boulevard, at about 8:55 a.m.

Preliminary details indicate an 18-year-old man was behind the wheel of a 2008 Acura TL when he changed lanes and caused the Acura’s left side to hit the right side of the victim’s 2013 Chevrolet Malibu.

Afton Fire Protection District crews transported the woman to Mercy Hospital – South for injuries considered minor.

Authorities said both vehicles were left with moderate damage, and both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the wreck.

It’s unclear whether the teen driver is expected to be charged or cited.
