STL: Driver sent to hospital after two-vehicle wreck on I-70 near NW St. Louis

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO — A collision Thursday evening on Interstate 70 near northwest St. Louis left a 40-year-old local woman injured, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The accident happened on the eastbound lanes past State Highway U and was first reported just after 8:00 p.m.

Preliminary details indicate Jovonya Thedford was driving a 2021 Nissan Kicks eastbound when she overcorrected the vehicle to the left side of the roadway and lost control. As the Nissan swerved into lane #3, it collided with the front of a 2023 Ford F-350 pickup truck driven by 38-year-old Volodymyr Bretsko, of Hollywood, Florida.

While Bretsko was uninjured in the crash, Thedford was transported to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital for minor injuries.

No charges were immediately reported.
