STL: DUI driver to be sentenced for crash in Monroe Township that killed 3 teens

MONROE TOWNSHIP, MO – A driver charged with a fatal DUI collision that took the lives of three teens on South Chantilly Rd near Ethington Rd on Feb. 5, 2023, will be sentenced on Monday, according to FOX 2 Now.

The woman was driving a 2008 Ford Focus north at 81 mph in a 35 mph zone when she went airborne and crashed into a tree before flipping over around 3:40 a.m.

Witnesses informed investigators the driver and others in the vehicle had smoked marijuana before the collision.

First responders extricated the driver and airlifted her and a passenger to an area hospital with serious injuries. Crews pronounced the other three passengers, an 18-year-old male, a 17-year-old female, and a 15-year-old male, dead at the scene.

The driver’s blood and urine tested positive for marijuana and benzodiazepines.

On Apr. 15, 2024, the driver entered an Alford plea, pleading guilty to three counts of first-degree involuntary manslaughter, DWI death of two or more, and DWI serious physical injury.
